Inheriting a police that successive police authorities had battled tooth and nails to make citizens watchdogs had been tough but the the Force is today being perceived with the assumption in office of the recent three nation's police bosses.
This is not far-fetched. Citizens who spoke to this blog expressed satisfaction with the police response time and enhanced relationship between the communities and the police in recent times.
Aiding that, according to one of our respondents, is the timely response of the Police Call Centre's, especially in the nation's capital, Abuja.
According to Sola, (not real name), he received a distress call from a neighbour living about three streets away from him on a given day and he had to browse the internet to get the Abuja Police Control Room.
To his amazement, the phone was immediately answered and he was promptly linked up with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of his area.
The DPO linked him up with the Patrol Team on duty and in a jiffy, a detachment was at hand to save what would have been a free day for armed bandits who caught residents of his area unawares.
He particularly commended the police for the feedback procedures throughout their operation and thanked them for saving the day in favour of the helpless citizens.
He therefore encouraged citizens to collaborate with the police authorities by volunteering intelligence and boost relationship between the security agencies and the community as a way of nipping crimes in the bud.
Sola noted that everything is not bad among men and officers of the police, he urged citizens to change their perceptions about the force as a way of building confidence among all stakeholders for effective policing and secured society.
