The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has expressed his deepest gratitude to President Bola Tinubu over his approal for construction of Oyo Circular road from Ijawaya - Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) - Sabo - Ilora and Akinmorin, all in the Oyo Federal Constituency.
The commendation was contained in a statement on Tuesday by Bode Durojaiye, director on Media and Publicity to the Alaafin.
It will be recalled that during his recent visit to the President at his Bourdillion Street, Ikoyi, Lagos residence, Oba Owoade had discussed the need for urgent provision of critical infrastructure within the metropolis to improve the socioeconomic lives of the people.
Alaafin noted that for decades, the poor conditions of roads in Oyo metropolis posed severe socio-economic challenges for the people.
The paramount ruler added that President Tinubu-led administration's prompt attention to this critical infrastructure will undoubtedly bring immense relief.
Oba Owoade noted that when completed, the newly approved circular road will transform the people's daily lives and empower the metropolis by boosting local economy.
He stressed that farmers and traders will have seamless, faster access to major markets as the road network will drastically reduce travel time and crop spoilage while fostering new local business investments.
"It will also improve healthcare and emergency access, as residents, particularly pregnant women and the elderly, can now easily access nearby hospitals and emergency services without delays caused by poor road conditions,"he said.
The Alaafin further believe that the road on completion will also "enhance safety and connectivity through the smooth, well-paved surface that will drastically reduce vehicular wear and tear, but make daily commuting safer, and connect our communities to neighboring towns.
"This landmark project stands as a testament to your commitment to grassroots development and the dividends of democracy.
"We see your dedication to the infrastructural transformation of our nation, and we remain fully supportive of your administration's continued efforts to bring progress to our metropolis".
Oba Owoade also commended some illustrious sons of the city including Engr. Idris Adeoye Adegboyega, Alhaji Wasiu Adebisi, and the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Dr. Zaccheus Adelabu, for their unflinching commitment and support towards the development of the metropolis.
"A massive thank you to our dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his outstanding support and investment in our metropolis infrastructure. These landmark projects align perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda—creating jobs, connecting producers to markets, and uplifting lives," he said.
The foremost monarch further conveyed the deepest gratitude of the people of the Oyo Metropolis to the President for his visionary leadership and unwavering support.
"We pray for continued wisdom, good health, and success as you pilot the affairs of our great nation. Thank you once again for listening to our plea and for remembering our metropolis," Alaafin stated.
