'Bandits Seek Release Of Detained Members, Not Money, Arms,' Says Abducted Principal In New Video

The abducted principal of Community Grammar School, Ahoro Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mrs Racheal Alamu, on Monday, appeared in a fresh video where she denied that her abductors were demanding money, weapons and Shari'ah rule across the country.

Alamu, who was abducted over three weeks ago alongside students and teachers, denied that the bandits requested for a billion Naira, weapons and Shariah law introduction as conditions to regain their freedom.

The embattled principal said contrary to this claim, the victims were not forced to worship in Islamic way since their abduction.

"Some people are making our problems to be complicated already. We were shown some print media where it was stated that these people that abducted us requested for release of some people, they requested for a billion Naira, they requested for Shariah to be entrenched throughout the country. These are not true. 

"They're just trying to make more problems for us. We have not been forced to worship in Islamic way. They're not asking for Shariah law, they're not asking for money. The simple thing they're asking for is the release of their people.

"I don't know why they're peddling this rumour to make it complicated for us. Please, we're just begging you, don't play politics with our lives," she appealed.

Mrs Alamu further begged government to negotiate with the bandits to know who among their commanders will be released to effect their own freedom.

While making further appeals to the government, the principal cautioned political actors against playing politics with their lives.
