FCT Police Demolish Den Of Suspected Kidnappers

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have demolished and taken over the den of the suspected terrorists that were recently apprehended in the Territory.

The operations followed a recent anti-kidnapping and rescue operation led by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, on the June 9, 2026 at Paze - Byazhin area of the nation's capital.

CP Sanusi had led a follow-up tactical operation on June 12, to an identified hideout used by the suspects around Paze hills bordering Kaduna, Niger, and the FCT. 

The operation resulted in the arrest of four suspected kidnappers identified as Yahaya Abdullahi, Muhammed Yunusa, Hauwa Shafiu and Shamsudeen Mustapha. 

A statement on Monday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Josephine Adeh, said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were part of a coordinated criminal network involved in kidnapping and banditry activities within the FCT and adjoining states.

Adeh added that the suspects confessed during interrogation that the location served as a convergence point where armed bandits meet with them to coordinate movements and relay information on intended targets and subsequent attack locations. 

Adeh stressed the suspects further admitted that the group provides logistics support including food, medical assistance, illicit drugs, and other supplies to the armed suspects operating in the surrounding areas.

In another operation led by the Commissioner of Police today, June 15, 2026, to the identified location, the criminal hideout was completely dislodged, and makeshift structures as well as storage facilities used by the suspects were destroyed.

She added that one of the suspects, Hauwa Shafiu, who functioned as a logistics supplier and cook for the criminal network and their captives, and was pregnant at the time of arrest and has since delivered a healthy baby while in lawful custody, where she continues to receive adequate medical care alongside the newborn.

The PPRO assured that investigation was ongoing and efforts were being intensified to identify and apprehend other members of the network and dismantle the wider criminal structure operating within the region.
