IGP Okays Takeoff Of Safe School Club Nationwide

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has given final approval for the commencement of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Safe School Club Initiative across Nigeria.

According to the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Strategy to the PCRC National Chairman,  Arákùnrin Badmus Saburi, the approval marks another significant milestone for the Committee-led initiative by the police boss.

The approval was conveyed during a crucial meeting held at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters in Abuja on Friday following a careful review of the implementation framework of the initiative and and the official endorsement for its nationwide rollout by the IGP.

In addition, IGP Disu also appro lookved one of the three samples of the Safe School Club uniform presented before him. 

The approved design, including the distinctive fez cap, will serve as the official uniform for the initiative throughout the country. 

Furthermore, Disu also approved the specially designed traffic safety banner to be used by students while crossing roads at their schools, underscoring the programme's commitment to the safety and welfare of schoolchildren.

He expressed profound appreciation to the leadership of the PCRC under Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan and reaffirmed his confidence in the committee and pledged the full support of the Nigeria Police Force towards the successful implementation of the Initiative.

The IGP further urged the PCRC to build a membership strength of over 10,000 participants for the programme and ensuring that the committee maintains effective control, accountability, and proper coordination at every level across the federation. 

He also emphasised the importance of incorporating adequate security coding and identification measures into the approved uniforms to ensure that every uniform can be traced to its rightful owner to prevent misuse. 

Responding on behalf of the PCRC NEC, the National Chairman, Alhaji Olaniyan expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for embracing the committee's vision and providing the necessary institutional support for the programme. 

He assured the IGP that the PCRC National Executive Committee would work diligently with POLCACOF, the Force Public Relations Department, and the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Safe School Programme to achieve the intended objectives of the programme.

Olaniyan further commented the PCRC chairman in Rivers State,  Dr. Voke, who led the IGP Special Assignment Committee with remarkable dedication, professionalism, and efficiency. 

He lauded his exemplary leadership, commitment to excellence, and timely execution of the assignment which earned the admiration and commendation of the IGP and the Force Management Team. 

Special recognition was also accorded to the National Coordinator of the Safe School Initiative, Amb. Chief Samuel Olaoluwa Akintoye, whose unwavering commitment, strategic coordination, and relentless efforts played a vital role in bringing the initiative to this successful stage.
