The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade has directed that a one day inter-faith prayer session be held to seek divine intervention to the wave of insecurity in the land.
The service which will be held on Thursday at the Agbala Ogun ball in the ancient Oyo Palace is targeted at praying for peace, unity and security in Oyo land.
A statement on Thursday by his spokesman, Bode Durojaye noted that Oba Owoade is convicted that prayers against banditry, terrorism, and violence is needed to anchor the soul, replace fear with faith, and invoke divine protection.
Durojaiye, who noted that conflicts arise in every aspect of lives, noted that prayer is a powerful tool that can help resolve them and promote harmony.
"Prayer has a significant role in resolving conflict and fostering harmony. It may seem unconventional, but the act of worship has the potential to bring about profound transformations in our lives and the world around us. By connecting with a higher power, we tap into a source of wisdom and guidance to help us navigate conflicts with grace and compassion.
"Prayer provides us with a sense of inner peace and clarity: When we take the time to connect with a higher power, we gain perspective and find solace in knowing that we are not alone in our struggles. This inner peace allows us to approach conflicts calmly and rationally.
"Prayer fosters empathy and compassion. By praying for others involved in the conflict, we develop a deeper understanding of their perspectives and challenges.
"This empathy enables us to find common ground and work towards resolution.
Prayer cultivates forgiveness: When we pray for those who have wronged us, we open our hearts to the possibility of forgiveness. Letting go releases the burden of resentment and paves the way for reconciliation," he said.
The statement further stressed that prayer encourages open communication, noting that through it, "we can seek guidance on expressing ourselves effectively and listening attentively to others. This promotes healthy dialogue and helps us find mutually beneficial solutions."
For many, he added, prayer plays a significant role in guiding decisions, offering clarity and peace of mind. "By seeking divine guidance, one can feel more confident in his or her choices, trusting that they align with a higher purpose.
