Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday, granted bail to the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Mr Omoyele Sowore.
Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporter is standing before the court over allegation bordering on cybercrime.
In his ruling, Justice Umar granted Sowore bail in the sum of N200 million and also directed him to produce two sureties.
According to the court, one of the sureties must be a traditional ruler from his community, while the other must own landed property in Abuja, the nation's capital.
The court further directed that the sureties must be verified by the prosecution and mandated Sowore to deposit his international passport with the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court pending the conclusion of the trial.
Sowore was subsequently released to his legal team while further proceedings have been adjourned until Monday, July 6, 2026.
