The Oyo State Government has extended the curfew earlier imposed on ten (10) local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park by another 24 hours.
The extension was announced via a statement posted on the verified Facebook page of the Oyo State Government on Thursday night.
It stated that the curfew imposed between 4pm and 8am in the 10 Local Government Areas of the State has been extended by another 24 hours.
The affected LGAs include Oriire, where some students and teachers were abducted by bandits over a month ago.
The rest are Oorelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba.
Although, the state government did not disclose the reason for the extension, it is however believed that it is not unconnected with the ongoing efforts to secure the release of the abducted persons.
RhemDy News recalls that Governor Seyi Makinde had on Tuesday approved the imposition of the curfew on the affected LGAs for the initial 16 hours which lapsed on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a 37-year-old man and his 14-year-old sibling were reportedly abducted on Tuesday night at Akinmoorin in Afijio LGA of the State.
Our correspondent gathered that the victims were kidnapped at their home around 9pm when their assailants scaled their fence and whisked them away through a thick forest within the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo.
Efforts by the parents, security agents, hunters and men in the community who combed the forest by trailing the path of the hoodlums did not yield result.
A reliable source further disclosed that the family had not been contacted by the attackers as at Thursday morning.
No official statement has been released by the Oyo State Police Command on the latest kidnapping as at the time of filing this report.
