Senate Assures NDLEA Of Support As Committee Chair Visits Marwa

The Senate is 0Committee on Drugs and Narcotics has assured the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of its full support in its ongoing offensi l substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking.0
The committee gave the assurance ook Monday June 15, 2026, when the new Chairman of the Senate committee, Senator Joseph Ikpea paid a courtesy visit on the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) at the NDLEA national headquarters in Abuja.

A statement on Tuesday by NDLEA's spokesman, Femi Babafemi, stated that Senator Ikpea noted during the visit that he was visiting the NDLEA's boss to learn and partner with the agency. 

Ikpea expressd happiness to work with Marwa in view of the record of his achievements as Military Governor of the old Borno State, Military Administrator of Lagos State and of recent, as the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the anti-narcotic agency.

“I have heard so many positive things about you as a sincere, straightforward, passionate and committed person especially your achievements as Military Governor in the old Borno state and Military Adminipstrator of Lagos state as well as your current engagement as Chairman and Chief 9 Officpper of NDLEA where l also p great oo.

“We are happy to work l you and support you in all of these because we know pp already doing a great job but not getting as much as you need to do the work. 

"So, we will partner with you tpphrough legislative support and necessary laws 0 subdue the drug problem in our country,” the Edo Central Senator said.pko

Responding, Marwa assured thepop0l lawm0aker of the preparedness of the agency to work with him and the Senate committee. 

He also congratulated him on his recent appointment as the chairman of the committee, adding that such could only happen because of his track record as an upright person.
