A total of six kidnap victims who were abandoned by fleeing terrorists have been rescued by troops of 17 Brigade, Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
The victims were rescued during an offensive operation at Ungwuan Doka in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The rescue operation on Monday 29 June, 2026, resulted in the safe recovery of four women and two children who had been held captive by the terrorists for several months.
The rescued victims include a 30-year-old Mrs. Umaima Isiaku, Amina Isiaku, 25; Fatima Saidu, 22; Huzaima Nasiru, 16; as well as a one-year-old Usman Surajo and Dauda Isiaku who is 18 months old.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the victims who are all natives of Bilbis Village, were abducted by armed terrorists on March 11, 2026, along the Tsafe–Bilbis Road in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The victims disclosed that they were abandoned by their captors as troops intensified offensive operations against terrorist hideouts in the area, forcing the criminals to flee.
Military authorities said efforts were ongoing to reunite the rescued victims with their families while providing them with the necessary care and support.
The successful rescue underscores the sustained pressure being mounted by Operation FANSAN YAMMA against terrorist and bandit networks across the North-West, as security forces continue operations aimed at dismantling criminal enclaves, rescuing kidnapped victims, and restoring peace to affected communities.
