The reelection team of Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the
Imole Campaign Council (TICC), has appealed to prospective voters in the State to resist the lure of trading their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
TICC said it has been inundated with report that certain elements were approaching voters in the state to either obtain sensitive data on their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) or outright purchase of the cards ahead of the August 15, 2025 governorship election in the State.
Spokesperson of the campaign council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, in a statement on Thursday, said the scheme, now rampant, explores the ignorance and economic situation of the innocent voters to have undue access to their PVCs.
"Credible intelligence at our disposal indicated that this unlawful scheme is part of the calculated attempt to disenfranchise voters and adversely alter the outcome of the forthcoming governorship poll.
"Our campaign strongly frown at this unwholesome practice which seriously interferes with the democratical rights of voters to participate in election unhindered," he said.
Olajengbesi maintained that democracy is about participation while the PVC grants voters access to electoral participation, noting that without it, voting in an election will not be possible.
"We must emphasise that possession of PVC other than the one bearing one's name is unlawful in accordance with Section 121 of the Electoral Act, 2026, making it criminal to lure voters to surrender sensitive data on their cards in exchange for fictitious empowerment or worse, outright purchase.
"It is therefore necessary to warn those in the business of accosting voters for their PVCs to desist and return whatever has so been illegally obtained as we will explore every lawful means to resist this undemocratic practice," he said.
The TICC called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately activate measures to identify those behind the scheme and initiate processes to guarantee the integrity of the forthcoming election.
Also, the campaign council equally called on security agencies to go after those it described as criminal syndicates trading PVCs in order to make them face the full wrath of the law and ensure the integrity of our elections.
"Our interest remains a free, fair and credible poll, which is only possible when every eligible voters can cast their ballots without any hindrances.
"We want to appeal to the general public, most especially voters to resist the temptation of monetary inducement in releasing their PVCs or disclosing sensitive information to anyone for whatever reason.
"PVC is the power they hold to make leadership choices and they must not surrender that power for pittance, which will in turn, force on them, leadership that will worsen their situations", Olajengbesi said.
He stressed that Governor Adeleke has demonstrated that government can actually work for the people, and urged Osun State people to resist the urge to sell their PVCs to enable them cast their vote for the continuation of good governance.
