The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State has assured that the nomination forms of candidates from the recognised leadership of the party in the State will be uploaded on the portal by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Oyo ADC therefore distanced itself from individuals it said were claiming to be the candidates of the party against the 2027 general elections.
According to a statement on Monday in Ibadan, the State Publicity Secretary-elect of the ADC, Rotimi Johnson Ojasope, maintained that INEC has not uploaded the forms of the recognised candidates on the Commission's portal.
He pledged that the leadership of the party was putting efforts to ensure that the nomination forms were duly uploaded.
"We have received numerous inquiries regarding the recent display of INEC nomination forms by certain individuals claiming to be candidates of our party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
"It has come to our attention that some of these individuals are misrepresenting themselves as authentic candidates of our party, despite their association with a less recognized faction.
"We wish to clarify that the INEC nomination form is intended solely for candidates officially recognised by their party," Ojasope said.
He maintained that while the ADC acknowledged that anyone can print and fill out the momination form, this however does not confer legitimacy or recognition as a candidate.
"The credibility of candidates is established not merely through possession of a form, but through the proper conduct of party primaries and the legitimacy of the submission process.
"We want to reassure all ADC candidates in Oyo State that our party leaders, under the guidance of Rt. Hon. Afees Jimoh, also known as Ona-Ara, and the State Chairman-elect, are fully committed to addressing any concerns regarding our candidates.
"We will exert every effort to ensure the successful upload of our candidates’ nominations into the INEC portal and to work diligently towards achieving victory in the upcoming elections," the statement stated.
