Personnel of the Chief Sunday Adeyemo (Sunday Igboho)-led security outfit, Iru Ekun, in collaboration with operatives of the Nigeria Police have rescued the wife of Alhaji Aliqlas and her two-year-old son who were abducted from their residence in Igbope, Igboho about eighteen (18) days ago.
According to a statement by his media office on Saturday, the rescue operation was carried out in Makwa, Niger State through the tireless efforts of the Iru Ekun Security Team, working in collaboration with relevant security stakeholders.
The statement noted that the woman and her child were rescued alive.
"We thank Almighty God for preserving the lives of the victims and making their safe return possible. This is a moment of relief and gratitude for their family and the entire Igboho and Igbope communities.
"Oloye Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) reaffirms his unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property. He assures the people of Oke-Ogun that every lawful effort will continue to be made in support of peace and security across the region," the statement said.
It urged the public to remain calm, continue supporting legitimate security efforts, and avoid spreading unverified information that could create unnecessary fear.
Igboho said further details regarding the rescue operation will be communicated at the appropriate time.
"May Almighty God continue to protect our communities and grant lasting peace to Igboho, Igbope, and Oke-Ogun at large," he said in the statement.
RhemDy News recalls that Igboho recently issued a two-hour ultimatum to the abductors of the victims to release them, failure of which he threatened to come after them.
This newspaper cannot immediately confirm if there were exchange of gun fire before the rescue of the abducted victims.
Although the rescue of the woman and her child were announced less than two hours after Igboho's warning, the report was later denied to be untrue.
