By RhemDy News

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja has appealed to the people to embrace peace following the clash that occurred between two parties at Ojoo in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In a statement on Wednesday in Ibadan by his spokesman, Adeola Oloko, Oba Ladoja stated that peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic groups in the state remained paramount.

“The peaceful co-existence among the various ethnic groups in the land is of paramount concern to me.

“Regardless of where we come from, we should continue to see ourselves as brothers and sisters,” he said.

While acknowledging that minor disagreements could arise in daily interactions among people, the monarch urged all disputing parties to exercise restraint considering the prevailing security situation in the country.

He reminded residents that many Nigerians from different ethnic, religious and ideological backgrounds now regard Ibadan as their home.

Oba Ladoja further commended security agencies for their swift response to the crisis.

At least, four people were confirmed killed and scores others injuries when wheelbarrow pushers and some youths in Ojoo clashed over the killing of a commercial tricycle rider.

The trouble began when a tricycle rider approached a POS operator at Strabag between 11p.m. and 12 midnight on Tuesday to make a withdrawal.

The POS operator handed over the money requested to the customer while processing the terminal for withdrawal. However, while this was ongoing, the rider had given the money to an individual it was intended but the POS terminal's network failed while completing  the transaction.

Since he had used the money and in order to assure the POS operator, he volunteered the tricycle and its key to assure that he was not running away.

This resulted into a brief argument and someone emerged from nearly, slapping the rider and stabbed him in the stomach.

Efforts to save the victim who was rushed to a nearby hospital failed as he succumbed to the injury on Wednesday morning.

On getting the news of the victim's death, the enraged youths in the area took to the street to protest the killing, resulting in violent clash that claimed the lives of four persons.
