[PHOTOS]: Florence Ajimobi Assumes Duty As Nigeria's Ambassador In Austria

Ambassador Florence Ajimobi, the wife of late former Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi, on Friday assumed duty in Vienna as the Nigeria's ambassador to Austria.

Ambassador Ajimobi was conspicuously absent on Thursday at the unveiling of the deputy governorship candidate of her party, All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

Her absence at the event got some stakeholders wondering, fueling the rumoured disaffection within the main opposition party in the State.

However, in a post to her verified Facebook page on Friday, Ajimobi announced her assumption of duty in Vienna as the ambassador of Nigeria to the European country.

"Today, I arrived in Vienna to assume duty as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Austria and the International Organisations in Vienna," she wrote. 

The elated Nigerian envoy added that she was warmly received in the country by the Chargé d’awwAffaires a.i. of the Embassy and Permanent Mission, Mr. Muyiwa Onifade alongside officers and staff and Nigerian connunity in Austria. 

"I was warmly received at the VIP Wing of Vienna International Airport by the Chargé d’awwAffaires a.i. of the Embassy and Permanent Mission, Mr. Muyiwa Onifade, accompanied by Home-Based Officers, Local Staff, and distinguished leaders of the Nigerian community in Austria," she said.

Ajimobi noted the notable groups that welcomed her to include representatives of the Oduduwa Group, Igbo Cultural Group, Nigeria-Austria Friendship Group, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), and Nigerian Students in Austria.

She expressed deep gratitude "for this heartfelt welcome and look forward to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Nigeria and Austria."
