The leadership of the Imole Campaign Council, the reelection campaign team of Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced the commencement of comprehensive post-election review, following the conclusion of the Osun State governorship election.
Spokeman of the Council, Pelumi Olajengbasi, stated in a statement on Monday, that the leadership directed its structures across all local government areas of the state "to immediately begin the documentation of every person affected by violence before, during and immediately after the election".
Olajengbesi said the exercise must capture persons who sustained injuries, families who lost loved ones, persons whose properties were damaged or destroyed, and other identifiable victims of election-related violence across political parties.
"Importantly, this exercise is not party-focused. Every victim must be documented irrespective of political affiliation, party membership or voting preference.
"Violence against any citizen diminishes us all, and no family should be forgotten simply because of their political persuasion," he stated.
He stressed that while the Council is grateful to God and to the people of Osun State for the outcome of the election, "we recognise that our victory cannot erase the pain of families who suffered losses or injuries in the course of the electoral process.
"The Campaign Council believes that responsible leadership requires us, after the political contest, to account for the human consequences of the process and ensure that the experiences of victims are properly documented.
"Accordingly, all Local Government structures have been directed to submit comprehensive and verifiable records of affected persons for further review and appropriate action", Olajengbesi stressed.
With the election over, he noted that common humanity must now take precedence over political differences, stressing that "Osun comes first".
