Pelumi Olajengbesi, spokesman of The Imole Campaign Council (TICC), the campaign organisation for the reelection of Governor Ademola Adeleke, has accused the police of arrest and humiliation of six persons in an overnight raid in Erin Oke and Erin Ijesa communities of Osun State.
Olajengbesi made the accusation in a post to his verified Facebook page on Thursday, claiming that the arrests were carried out on the order of Hon. Woke Oke, the member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun State in the House of Representatives.
"Just yesterday at about midnight, operatives of the Nigeria Police allegedly invaded Erin Oke and Erin Ijesa on Wole Oke’s order to arrest the very people Wole Oke now seeks to continue representing in the National Assembly after 24years. I laugh," he said.
Olajengbesi gave the names of the arrested persons to include Olanipekun Gbenga Abayomi, Ibrahim Adetomi, Adeyekun Abiodun, Ajide Hammed and Dickson Joseph who were alleged to have been arrested at Erin Oke while Agunbiade Gbenga was taken at Erin Ijesa.
Osun State Police Command has not made a public statement to confirm or deny the reported arrests coming a day after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed to have posted a 'Post No Credit' on a First Bank account belonging to the Osun State Government.
Critics of the account freezing have called out the anti-corruption agency for moving against the State ten (10) to the August 15, 2025, governorship election in the State, alleging intimidation.
The anti-graft agency has, however, defended its action, insisting that it has constitutional right to freeze accounts 72 hours before securing court order.
On the alleged arrests, Olajengbesi wrote, "I can only laugh. History is full of powerful men who believed fear, intimidation, and oppression could secure political victory. Time has consistently proved otherwise.
"Power is temporary, but the verdict of history is permanent. Those who choose oppression over service rarely end with honour."
He maintained that "despite all the reckless abuse of power, and all the attempt to silence the people, Osun will speak with one voice" on August 15th.
The campaign council spokesman added that no security apparatus is greater than the collective will of the people.
He expressed optimism that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be defeated decisively at the polls in Osun State, stressing that "the people will once again demonstrate that in a democracy, the ballot is always more powerful than intimidation."
