...Urges voters to resist intimidation, vote buying
The Imole Campaign Council (TICC), the reelection organisation of Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed confidence that the incumbent who is also the candidate of Accord party will win the Osun State governorship poll with wide margin.
Spokesperson, of the Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, stated this in a statement assessing the ongoing election on Saturday.
"Going by the overwhelming support and confidence of the good people who showed up in large number to vote for Accord Party, Governor Ademola Adeleke is more than confident of winning this election with a wide margin", he stated.
The Council commended the people of Osun State for the vote of confidence in the governor and for the reassuring support since the beginning of voting.
The statement also urged Osun State voters to resist the intimidation, vote-buying and unlawful arrest allegedly orchestrated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in connivance with security agents.
"That said, we have received scores of reports from our situation room, with video evidence, detailing how the APC deploy anti-democratic tools of vote buying, unlawful arrest and intimidation against voters across Osun State.
"Precisely, we have reports of massive vote-buying where APC party officials offer voters N50,000 and N25,000 to get harvest their votes.
"We urge the people of Osun State not to trade away their future for peanuts and vote in Governor Ademola Adeleke for the growth and development of our dear state", the TICC said.
The Council also noted the "perplexing deployment of unauthorised soldiers by the APC to arrest and detain Accord Party campaigners across the state even whilst voting was ongoing. This is unacceptable and embarrassing to the gallant officers of the Armed Forces."
It called on the people to monitor the election process and continue to reject the "militarisation of the governorship election".
