Lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State in the House of Representatives, Rep. Bamidele Salam, has revealed how he saw Governor Ademola Adeleke shedding tears about two times in the build-up to the recently conducted governorship election in the state.
Salam, a lawyer, journalist and politician stated this on Sunday on his verified Facebook page while admonishing Christians to put their faith in God in reference to the tension-soaked August 15, 2025, election won by Governor Adeleke.
The Ede-born political strategist who chairs the media committee of the Imole Campaign Council shared the testimony to encourage Christians to remain steadfast amid tough battles.
"Sometime in December last year a respected servant of God told me something about the approaching governorship election in Osun State. He said he saw the opponents of Governor Adeleke fixing iron horns (ìwo irin) in preparation for the battle ahead.
"He told us to prepare for a very tough contest that will most likely be bloody. He said the Lord assured him that if the Governor and his team remain steadfast, we will prevail.
"In early January of this year, we received instructions to organise praise programmes in some parts of the State before the August election. No other thing must happen at the programmes but praises, worship and thanksgiving. We did as instructed", he said.
Salam recalled that the electioneering process came with so much heat, kicks, pursuit, destruction, killings and general uncertainty.
"Many times, I cried and at least twice I saw the Governor himself shed tears. Our opponents boasted on their might and strength. On one particular day, they held a meeting with some eminent people who came to report the frightening things they heard. They were scared that we stood no chance against this onslaught," he said.
The federal lawmaker confessed that although he was confident in the Lord, yet, there were occasional moments he was overwhelmed with fear. "That sense of fear came as I prayed one night and had a "bad" dream. I shared the dream with a more matured father in faith who assured me that all was well".
Narrating further, he explained that about one week to the election as he knelt down to pray, he heard the Lord saying, "Each time you think about this coming election, just give me thanks".
Salam said although that leading was reassuring but was not easy. "Yet, I obeyed. From that day, each time anything I saw or heard bothered me, I would say, "Lord, I thank You for the forthcoming Osun state Governorship election".
He advised and assured every believer that God is always faithful to perform His counsel, adding that God is also able to help, save, heal and deliver those who put their trust in Him.
He thanked every man or woman of God who joined the struggle through fasting, prayers and other forms of intercession. "I know of groups that went praying without sleep for many days without any form of inducement of motivation other than believing in the cause of (Governor) Ademola Adeleke and the will of God. Thank you, Thank You, Thank You".
Above all, the lawmaker returned "all glory to God Almighty, mighty in battle and glorious in holiness. Hallelujah to the One who rules and overrules".
