Led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, the government, in a statement on Monday, said the initiatuve will create a verified database to support economic planning and improve access to government interventions.

"Each beneficiary will receive a chip-enabled, QR-coded identity card in ATM format for a fee of N1,000, payable into the beneficiary's own account," the state government said.

It further said registration will be linked to National Identification Numbers and Bank Verification Numbers to eliminate duplication and fraudulent claims.
