Troops Foil ISWAP Infiltration Attempt, Kill 4 Terrorists In Borno

By RhemDy News

Troops of the 81 Division Task Force Battalion deployed under Operation Hadin Kai have foiled an attempted infiltration by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State.

Citing sources, security expert and counterinsurgency analyst, Zagazola Makama, said the incident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday when troops of 81 Division TF Battalion deployed at Check Point 4, Alpha Company, sighted suspected ISWAP fighters crawling towards their defensive position from the Gulumba Gana axis.

Makama reports that the troops immediately opened fire, forcing the terrorists to withdraw from the area.

The troops subsequently conducted an exploitation operation at about 6a.m. and recovered four AK-47 rifles and the bodies of four terrorists neutralised during the encounter.

The report said traces of blood were also observed along the route used by the fleeing terrorists, suggesting that additional terrorists may have sustained injuries while withdrawing from the area.

He added that there were no casualties on the side of the  Nigerian troops as the soldiers returned to their base at about 6:53 a.m. after the operation.

The military said the general security situation remained calm but highly unpredictable, assuring that the troops' morale and fighting efficiency remained satisfactory.
