Two terrorists have been neutralised by the troops of the Nigerian Army’s 8 Division during clearance operations conducted across Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.
In the operations that took place on Friday
August 14, 2026, the troops also recovered two AK-103-2 rifles, ammunition and motorcycles.
Military source disclosed that the troops cleared several communities, including Ungwan Sarkin Musulmi, Gidan Dutsi, Gidan Gini, Gidan Sambo, Dayau, Madiara and Dabah, before advancing into Birnin Magaji LGA, where they cleared Birnin Magaji Town, Dumpami, Gabake, Gidan Katakare, Godel, Kasheni-Kura, Dan-Wala, Sabon-Birni and Garin Kaso.
During the operation, surveillance at Dumpami detected terrorists at Magari Village following which the troops made contact with terrorists at Garin Kaso, neutralising two and recovering two AK-103-2 rifles, two magazines, nine rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and two motorcycles.
However, while withdrawing from Gidan Kaso, the troops came under an ambush by terrorists who were hiding in millet farms on both sides of the road.
The soldiers fought through the ambush, with an unconfirmed number of terrorists reportedly neutralised.
One soldier sustained a gunshot injury to the right upper arm and was evacuated to a General Hospital for medical attention.
The operation highlights the Army’s continued efforts to disrupt terrorist activities, deny criminal elements freedom of movement and protect communities across Zamfara State.
