Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised scores of terrorists and recovered weapons, motorcycles and rustled livestock during in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The operation followed credible intelligence that suspected terrorists were making attempt to move rustled livestock through the Maikujera general area of Rabah LGA.
Acting on the intelligence, the troops swiftly deployed to intercept the terrorists.
However, while advancing towards the suspected location, the troops encountered an attempted ambush along the route.
Demonstrating high tactical readiness and superior firepower, the troops immediately engaged the terrorists and successfully broke through the ambush.
In the encounter, several terrorists were neutralised during, while others fled into the surrounding bush.
Subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of AK-47 rifles, motorcycles used by the terrorists and the rustled livestock.
Military sources disclosed that the general security situation in Rabah and the Maikujera area is presently calm and stable, with troops on the ground to sustain the security gains.
Troops were also reported to maintain high morale and conducting routine patrols and other security operations to ensure the continued safety and protection of residents in the affected communities.
