Troops of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued a kidnapped victim in Kaduna State and foiled a terrorist attack on a community in Sokoto State.
Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call on August 20, 2026,
following the abduction of a 43-year-old man around Awon Community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Lt.-Col. Danja said the troops swiftly moved into the area and pursued the terrorists into the surrounding bushes, compelling them to abandon their captive and flee.
He added that the rescued victim was subsequently reunited with his family.
In a separate operation on Friday August 21, the media information officer said troops of Sector 2, working in conjunction with local security elements, responded to a terrorist attack on Kwaren Gamba Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State where they engaged the terrorists and forced them to withdraw in disarray.
Danja added that one terrorist was neutralised while troops recovered 2 mobile phones, cash, an ATM card, recharge cards and other items from the scene.
The Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA expressed resolute commitment to sustain the tempo of ongoing operations to deny terrorists freedom of action and create a safer environment for communities across the Joint Operations Area.
