The candidate of Accord party in the forthcoming 2027 govenorship election in Oyo State, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, on Saturday inaugurated his campaign team, naming Hon. Tunde Suara as Director-General.
Hamzat, a broadcaster and radio owner disclosed the inauguration of The Oriyomi Campaign Council (TOCC) on Sunday in a post to his verified Facebook page.
The Accord candidate said the council was not simply about putting names on a list or filling positions, but about bringing together people who believe in the future being worked upon to build for Oyo State.
He added the team also comprised those who were ready to contribute their time, experience, energy and ideas to the journey.
The campaign council also announced Ibikunle Samuel Arugbobois as spokesperson and Mrs. Mercy Anderson as Secretary.
Others include Dr. Mustapha Adegboyega Abdullateef, Chairman, Logistics & Strategies Committee; Aare Olabode Anisoloja, Director, Strategic Communications & Public Engagement; Alhaji Adesiyan Bashiru, Deputy Director-General, Oyo South; Alhaji Saheed Oladeji as Deputy Director-General, Oyo Central and Alhaji Ajadi Akeem Olaitan appointed as Deputy Director- General for Oyo North.
The rest include Hon. Teslim Adedayo Adetunji, Head of Protocol; Comrade Tiamiyu Taiwo, Chairman, Youth Mobilisation; Hon. Adeshina Hammed, Chairman, Finance Committee and Mr. Taoheed Oladosu, Chairman, Mobilisation.
Also are Hon. Danjuma Arowosaye, Hon. Ridwan Akorede and Hon. Ganiyu Larubawa Sulaiman who were appointed as Deputy Director, Youth Mobilisation for Oyo Central, Oyo South and Oyo North.
Addressing the appointees and leaders of the party at the event, Alh. Hamzat charged every member of the Council to conduct themselves with diligence, tolerance, transparency and respect for the law, saying, "Our campaign must be different".
"We do not need insults, hatred or personal attacks to convince the people of Oyo State. We must focus on the issues that matter: education, healthcare, jobs, infrastructure, agriculture, security, youth development, empowerment, improved living standards and economic growth".
He also charged members of the Council to listen to the people. "We must go to the people, sit with them, hear their concerns and communicate our vision in a language they understand.
"This is not a campaign for a few individuals. It is a collective journey, and the people must remain at the centre of everything we do," he said.
The Accord party governorship candidate also expressed the need to respect other opponents.
"We will respect our opponents because political differences should never make us enemies. We may disagree on ideas and direction, but we must never lose our humanity.
"The people of Oyo State are watching us, and we must conduct this campaign in a manner we will all be proud of, regardless of the outcome," he said.
He further charged members of the campaign Council members, party members, supporters, volunteers and everyone who believes in the journey, "I ask that we continue to work together, remain focused and keep faith.
"We are not here merely to run a campaign. We are here to offer the people of Oyo State a choice. And by the grace of God, we will succeed," he said.
