APC, Oyebamiji Didn't Challenge Adeleke's Victory — Campaign Council

The Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election has dismissed as false and mischievous, reports claiming that the party and its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji a.k.a. AMBO, have filed a petition challenging the outcome of the election won by Governor Ademola Adeleke at the Election Petition Tribunal.

The denial was contained in a statement by the Head, Media and Publicity, Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, Engr Omowaiye Oluremi, on Monday.

Omowaiye described the report as completely untrue and should be regarded.

"We state categorically that neither the All Progressives Congress (APC) nor its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) filed any petition at the tribunal challenging the outcome of the August 15 governorship election.

"The purported claim is therefore completely untrue and should be regarded as nothing more than a rumour being circulated by individuals seeking to mislead members of the public and create unnecessary tension", he said.

The Council further urged members of the public, supporters of the party and the media to discountenance the claim and refrain from giving credibility to unverified information designed to cause confusion.

It stated that the APC and Oyebamiji remain committed to lawful and democratic processes, adding that they  will continue to act responsibly in the interest of peace, stability and the good people of Osun State.

"We urge the public to rely only on official statements from the APC and the Campaign Council on matters concerning the party, its candidate and the outcome of the August 15 governorship election," the statement said.

Following the expiration of the 21-day window for the filing of petition against the election by any aggrieved candidate or their party, the rumoured filing of the petition against the reelection of Governor Adeleke got many stunned on Monday. 

Political analysts believed such move became controversial with the candidate of the APC and top party chieftains congratulating Governor Adeleke in the aftermath of the election. 

With this clarification and unlike his 2022 election that scaled through to the Supreme Court, the reelection of Adeleke has gone unchallenged, ensuring that the governor concentrates on governance without judicial distraction to defend his mandate.
