...threatens to 'abuse' political kings

Oyo State govenor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Saturday warned royal fathers to steer clear of partisan politics in the buildup to the 2027 general election, threatening that political actors will not hesitate to disrespect any monarch found playing politics.
Governor Makinde gave the warning while commissioning the new palace of the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola, in Eruwa.
The eveny also marked the first coronation anniversary of the monarch during which the Oyo State governor was installed with the honourary chieftaincy title of Aare Asoludero of Ibarapaland.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Makinde said, "Traditional institutions should regard all of us as their children. However, any traditional institution that takes sides in politics will be called out. If they choose to dabble in politics, we will abuse them."
Makinde, who is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) is serving out his two term as the governor of the state.
Political observers note that the Governor is engrossed with underground battles with some monarchs in the state following his management of traditional institution.
Curiously, Makinde, whose administration installed the most powerful traditional rulers, including the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade; the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja and the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye is believed to have frosty relationship with the trio.
