A statement on Friday by the Senior Media Officer, Ooni’s Palace, Sodiq Lawal, on behalf of the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Otunba Moses Olafare, said the presentation of the royal crown took place on Thursday at the palace of the revered monarch.

Speaking at the ceremony, the traditional ruler offered ancestral blessings and royal prayers for Oba Aderoju, charging him to uphold the dignity, customs and traditions of his people.

The Ooni further charged the new monarch to use his position to promote peace, unity and development within his domain.

Oba Ogunwusi also urged the new monarch to see his ascension as a sacred responsibility and an opportunity to serve his people with wisdom, humility and courage.

He stressed the importance of traditional rulers as custodians of culture and agents of community development.
The Ooni also charged Oba Aderoju to work closely with other traditional rulers and community leaders, particularly in strengthening the bond of unity among communities tracing their ancestral heritage to Ile-Ife.

Also at the occasion, the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Joseph Olubiyi Toriola, offered royal prayers for the new monarch, asking Olodumare and the ancestors to grant him wisdom, good health, long life and the strength to lead his people successfully.

Oba Toriola charged the Olomoni to remain committed to the welfare of his subjects and to make peace, unity and progress the cornerstone of his reign.

In his remarks, the Olomoni expressed appreciation to the Ooni for the honour and recognition accorded him, describing the presentation of the beaded crown as a moment of great significance in his reign.

Oba Aderoju pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by the Ooni and his people, promising to uphold the traditions of his forebears while promoting peace, unity and socio-economic development in Okuu-Omoni-Ife land.

He further expressed his readiness to work with the Ooni, neighbouring traditional institutions and other stakeholders towards preserving the rich cultural heritage of Ile-Ife and advancing the interests of his people.
