Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), on Friday, neutralised a terrorist and recovered four motorcycles and other items during a dawn offensive operation in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the general area of Yantumaki Forest, troops conducted a coordinated offensive against the terrorists and engaged them with maximum firepower.
In a statement on Saturday, the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said the intense firepower forced the hoodlums to flee into the surrounding bushes.
Lt.-Col. Danja said troops confirmed the neutralisation of one terrorist during exploitation of the area and recovered four motorcycles, one mobile phone and five empty intravenous drip containers, suspected to have been used in the treatment of wounded terrorists.
He added that the successful operation further demonstrates the unwavering commitment of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to sustain pressure on terrorist networks, degrade their operational capabilities and deny them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
The OPFY urged the general public to continue supporting security agencies with relevant information to enable the theatre eradicate terrorists elements within the Joint Operations Area.
