OPHK Troops Neutralise 3 Terrorists In Borno

By RhemDy News

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully foiled an ambush by terrorists along the Miyanti–Banki Junction axis in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, neutralising 3 terrorists and recovering arms and ammunition.

The incident occurred at about 08:30am on September 1, 2026, when troops of 151 Task Force Battalion, while conducting operations along the Main Supply Route (MSR) Miyanti–Banki Junction, encountered a terrorist ambush initiated with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and followed by heavy gunfire.

The troops responded swiftly and decisively, fighting through the ambush and subsequently conducting an immediate exploitation of the area.

During the engagement, 3 terrorists were neutralised, while troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine and 14 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.

A statement in Maiduguri by the Acting Military Information Officer Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, said an additional IED was also recovered during the exploitation.

Regrettably, one soldier sustained injuries during the encounter and was promptly evacuated for medical attention.

Goni stated that the injured soldier was currently in stable condition and responding to treatment.

He added that a gun truck also sustained minor damage during the engagement.

The successful response demonstrates the vigilance, resilience and combat effectiveness of Operation HADIN KAI troops in countering terrorist threats and maintaining freedom of movement along critical routes within the Theatre.

The OPHK troops remain resolute and pledged to continue to sustain pressure on terrorist elements, deny them freedom of action and ensure the protection of communities and critical routes across the North-East.
