Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, have arrested three (3) suspected members of a notorious armed robbery and carjacking syndicate in the Alakuko area of the State.
The operation followed credible intelligence to the Command in its sustained efforts to combat armed robbery, carjacking and other violent crimes across the State.
A statement on Thursday by the Command's Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, identified the suspects as 20-year-old Faruk Rasheed, Olamilekan Ademola, 28 years; and Abidemi Oluwawemo, 21 years, all males.
SP Adebisi disclosed that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly specialised in car snatching and robbing innocent citizens of their valuables.
She added that a search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of two (2) locally made pistols loaded with five (5) cartridges and one locally made revolver pistol loaded with three (3) rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
The PPRO also stated that the suspects were currently in police custody, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, has reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of residents across Lagos State.
