Troops Foil Terror Attack, Rescue 3 Kidnap Victims In Kaduna, Zamfara

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), foiled an attack by terrorists in Kaduna State and rescued three abducted victims in Zamfara State during separate operations.

Troops of Sector 1 on September 10, 2026,

responded to a distress call on terrorist activities at Unguwan Gardago Village, Kaduna North Local Government Area, where terrorists robbed locals of motorcycles and mobile phones and abducted a civilian.

A statement on Friday by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, stated that the terrorists forced the victim to guide their escape from the village. 

Lt.-Col. Danja said the troops swiftly responded and mounted an ambush along the terrorists’ withdrawal route before  engaging them.

He disclosed that this forced the terrorists to flee and abandon the motorcycles and other items looted from the residents.

Danja added that the troops recovered three motorcycles, one PKT machine gun working mechanism, components of a pump-action firearm, among other items after the operation. 

Unfortunately, he said the abducted civilian was killed by the terrorists, and his body was subsequently recovered and handed over to his relatives.

Similarly, on  Friday September 11, 2026, troops of Sector 2 observed terrorists attacking a Canter vehicle along the Anka–Gummi Road. 

The troops responded swiftly to the incident and made contact with the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their victims and flee the area.

The three abducted victims were subsequently rescued while the troops  recovered communication equipment of the hoodlums.

The Joint Task Force appreciates members of the public for their continued support and urges them to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
